Good News if You Don’t Like Exercising for Weight Loss

One of the worst things about being overweight or obese is that the news always seems to get worse. A quick example is exercising for weight loss. First, they told you you need to get more physical activity so you can burn more calories than you eat. Ugh.

Then, someone somewhere decided you needed at least 150 minutes of “moderate to vigorous” exercise – every week – if you wanted to be healthy. Double ugh.

Today we change all that.

The Good News About Exercising for Weight Loss

First, you still need to increase your physical activity and 150 minutes a week is still the recommended target. With that out of the way, here’s the good news.

  1. Just Being Active Pays Off – Until recently, the general consensus was that you needed the 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity to see any health benefits. More recently, there’s been a shift to include “reducing sedentary time” as a way to increase activity and the benefits it delivers. So just by not sitting all day, you can start to improve your health. But, you should still try to add as much exercise as you can and aim for the 150 minutes of exercise every week.
  2. You Don’t Need to Exercise for at Least 10 Minutes Every Time – While the Canadian government’s exercise guidelines for physical activity recommend that you get your exercise “in bouts of 10 minutes or more”, similar guidelines from south of the border are changing. The most recent revisions to “Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans”, published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, include the “elimination of the requirement for physical activity of adults to occur in bouts of at least 10 minutes”
  3. Jogging Helps Even if It’s Not for 150 Minutes – Running just once a week can help improve your health. Evidence shows that even just 50 minutes of running can decrease your risk of premature death and that higher levels of running do not necessarily improve that risk level.

So now that it’s easier to achieve the levels of activity you need for better health, and you know that a Herbal One diet plan delivers the nutrition you need for healthy weight loss, what are you waiting for?!
