How to Burn More Calories Without Really Trying – Part 1

Why Increasing Your Activity Level is So Difficult

Talk to anyone who tries to lose weight and there’s a good chance that, more than giving up some of their favourite foods, the thing they struggle with most is increasing their activity and exercise levels.

There’s a good reason for this. Carrying extra weight reduces your body’s energy levels. It means that those who need to lose weight the most have less energy to do so than those who don’t need to lose weight.

Fortunately, as long as you make sure you get proper nutrition, the more weight you lose, the more energy you have for getting into more activity.

Unfortunately, too many people go about the extra activity in the wrong way. They jump into it thinking “more is better”, and they tend to overdo it. The result is they create impossible goals, using a routine that’s impossible to keep and, ultimately, make it impossible for themselves to be successful.

On the other hand, if you choose to slowly increase your activity, while making sure you have the nutrition to keep your energy levels high, you give yourself a much better chance of succeeding.

Stop Worrying About Your Weight Goal

Another part of the problem with getting more activity is that we measure results by how much weight we lose. Very often we don’t shed the pounds in proportion to the amount of extra activity we do. We might get really active, but not see a corresponding loss of weight; which can be very discouraging. And then we give up.

While weight loss is the goal, it’s not always the best idea to use it to determine the validity of every part of your weight management program. There’s no denying that extra activity is helpful. So how can you keep motivated even when the extra activity doesn’t always result in corresponding weight loss? First, stop focusing exclusively on your weight. Start focusing on having a bit of fun.
