Meal prep can save you a great deal of time throughout the week. You won’t have to worry about needing groceries or wondering what you can make for dinner. And, when you get home after a long day, the last thing you may want to do is spend time cooking.
Here is how meal prep can help you stay on track.
Control Portion Sizes
If you are on a weight loss journey, you may be in a caloric deficit. You need to be watching how much food you are eating and how many calories you are burning to lose weight. Meal prep can help control your portion sizes. You will be able to measure out your meals to hit your calorie intake mark. And, you can minimize any overeating.
It is not uncommon to order food from your favourite restaurant or go out to eat. And, you may be more tempted to do so when there’s no food in your fridge. Meal prep can save you money since you won’t be as tempted to buy restaurant food.
Cooking takes time. And, after work or a long day, you may find yourself in the kitchen making your meal, and cleaning-up afterwards, for a large portion of your night. Meal prepping one day out of the week, ideally on Saturday or Sunday, saves you time during the week. You won’t have to worry about cooking or cleaning up as it will already be done.
Staying motivated is important on a weight loss journey. Without motivation, you may find yourself not eating properly, overeating, or snacking late at night. Meal prep can keep you motivated by mixing up your meals and making them fun. You will be encouraged to eat well, which helps keep you focused on your goals.
